The SGI Team is happy to announce the recent selection of Thad Heater as SGI’s new permanent coordinator. Thad brings extensive experience and a history of success working to conserve natural resources throughout the West.

An historic conservation partnership helped the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service determine that the species did not warrant protection under the Endangered Species Act. Now in its sixth year, the Sage Grouse Initiative is a key catalyst for the voluntary, partnership-based work that is conserving America’s sagebrush sea.

The NRCS-led Sage Grouse Initiative is pioneering a conservation approach that invites cooperation over conflict across the West. This recipe for success is transferable locally and statewide, as evidenced by a new MOU signed by Governor Bullock and NRCS Chief Jason Weller today in Montana.
